Bad Boys Bad Boys

If you could do something without getting caught, would you? Why or why not?

  1. If I had the option to do something with out getting caught, there is a chance I would do it. I believe this question is extremely conditional because the word 'something' is very vague. If i had the option to kill somebody without getting caught, I still wouldn't do it because killing is wrong. But say a cashier at a grocery store accidentally gives me five extra dollars in change, I might consider that my lucky day and keep that five dollars. I often get the angel on one shoulder and the devil on another, and just like most students in this class, choose the devil every once in a while.

  2. I probably would do something if I knew I wasn't going to get caught. But just something could be anything. I would do certain things if I knew I wouldn't be caught, but I wouldn't do anything.

  3. I think the question is very broad. A lot of times i have knowingly done wrong things without getting caught. So I would have to honestly anwser this question as yes i would. However to me they are not extremely wrong but that brings up the question of who decides that one sin is worse then another? Realisticly bad is bad and good is good. So moraly no matter what the "bad thing" if i knew it was bad I shouldnt have done it, and wish i could anwser this question no.

  4. I think that I would only do something when I knew I wouldn't get caught if it didn't hurt anyone in the process or caused damage no matter what kind of damage. I would not do anything that I considered wrong or I knew would affect anyone else but if it was just a small thing that I was doing than I would probably do it. I would probably only do it too if I thought that I reallky needed to.

  5. Within boundaries I think that I would take advantage of this opportunity. I would do something minor however, I would never do anything that would go against my morals or my sense of right and wrong. However, I would not think twice before doing little things like staying up later than I am supposed to or keeping money I found on the ground as long as I knew I would not get caught.

  6. Depending on the circumstance, I might or might not do something. I have different morals on many things, and some smaller things I might do if I knew I wouldn't get caught. But I know I wouldn't steal or cheat, no matter the circumstance. I just wouldn't feel right doing it because my guilt is more punishing than any other person could be. Same with killing, or any big crime. I know that I do things behind my mom's back and lie to my parents on some occasions, but they are never huge deals.

  7. I think I would do something and not risk getting caught. But this doesn't involve stealing or killing or and dreadful sin. I think it’s more on the lines of harmless shenanigans. I wouldn't do anything damaging or detrimental; that's a case of stupidity. But as a teenager, yes, I would like to get away with silly things every once in a while.

  8. I think it is hard to answer this question because I think it depends on the situation. I wouldn't do something that would hurt other people but I might do something if it worked out well for me. I think that it all depends on morality and what you view as right or wrong. I think that everyone has knowingly done something bad so it is kind of hard to answer.

  9. Honestly, it would depend on what I was doing. If it was anything in terms of saving a life then NO, but again like I said it would depend on what it is.

  10. Along with everyone else I would say it depends on the situation, but if it didn't result in something to bad I would probably do something bad if I knew I wouldn't get caught. I think most people would do the same thing and I do not think that it means you're a bad person.

  11. I would definately do things if i couldn't get caught. although it souns bad i believe 90% of the population would. That is why we have police and parents to try and stop us from commiting bad things. it is a choice we have to make which is what makes us human. We have to learn from our mistakes and make more choices. If we couldn't get caught there would be no consequence so most of us would participate.

  12. I think that almost anyone with this oppurtunity would take the chance. Pushing boundries is something our society enjoys alot. If this oppurtunity arised I believe people woudld do something to see how far they could go before it was considered wrong. Personally, i'm not sure what I would do if I could do anything without getting caught. Obviously I would not do something that would harm anyone else. What if it harmed you though? Everyone says they wouldn't do something bad if it hurt those around them. A bad choice usually means it is harmful to someone, either someone else, or you. I think that's just as bad. There's also the idea that if you can't get caught, the feeling isn't as fulfilling if there's no possibility of getting caught. Which is the main cause behind many peoples' actions. There are many different views on this idea.

  13. In all honesty I would probably do the bad thing. We all do bad things every once in awhile and if we don't get caught, chances are we probably won't even feel bad about it. If the bad thing we do effects us in a negitive way we learn from the mistake and move on with our lives.

  14. I think I would do a lot of little bad things but there is definately a line I wouldn't cross, like murder or anything else in that sort of vein. Robbing a bank is probably the worst thing I would do. It's a relatively victimless crime as long as I don't kill anyone and only take what's in safes and shares and all of that because all that money is insured by the government. I would be guilt-free and just a lot richer. Guilt is what keeps me from saying anything too outlandish because although punishment may not catch up to us guilt is always enough to eat away at us.

  15. If I had the chance to do anything without getting caught I would because it is the opportunity to do something no one else was able to achieve. It would be a life changing experience and I'd want to try it.

  16. I don't think I would do something wrong without getting caught because I would know in my heart that it is wrong, and that is something I would rather not deal with.

  17. As a simple human being living in a world that is controlled by money, I would have to say I would love to rob as many banks as I could to get all the money I can. It is not that I am greedy and want a ton of money; it is because I want to be able to pay off my boyfriend’s debt for him, pay all the bills back that my parents paid for me, and to pay for my sister’s and my schooling. I would also love to use the money to just help out as many people as possible! Help end hunger, help build schools in other countries and help strengthen the schools in the United States. I would also love to pay back all the debt that the US has ever gotten into and give money to those that need money. So if I could rob banks and get away with it I would. Because robbing the banks is not just benefiting me, it is benefited everyone I know.

I do agree with everyone else when it comes to if I could kill someone, well I would never ever do that. That is one sin that should never be broken.

I may sound like a horrible person saying that I would do something. But the way I see it, is that robbing a bank is better than killing and me robbing the bank would help more than just me. Killing someone would not help in anyway.

  18. This is a tough question. Sitting here and writing this response at this exact moment I would like to think that I wouldn't do something even knowing the fact that I wouldn't get caught just because I think that I do have some integrity. But situations, circumstances, and moods changes every second and its difficult to predict exactly what I would do. I do believe that if the "something" was very outrageous the guilt would probably end up piling on me and it might just not be worth it in the end.

  19. If I had the chance to do something without getting caught, I would not do that. I am a big believer in karma and I think it would come back to me if I did something wrong and I would defiantly get introuble for it whether in an instant or down the road. I did do something wrong 2 summers ago and I did get caught so now I learned my lesson and would never do that again. So I would not do something even if I didn't get caught.

  20. In some cases, I would say that yes, I would like to do something without getting caught. It would have to be something harmless and my conscious would have to be able to live with it. Otherwise, I would not want to deal with the guilt and stress, because I don't think it would be worth it. It may be thrilling at the time, but in the end doing things I know are wrong will leave me with regret.

  21. No, I believe that you should do good things because you want to.No matter how harmless it may seem, wrong is wrong.

  22. I would but i wouldnt. I think it depends on what it is. I think that if it was something like stealing would be demoralizing for me. I have done things before with out getting caught and it does give you a sort of feeling that is undescribable. Some people play off the feeling of mischeif. So for me i think it all depends on what it was i would do if i got caught or not. Somethings are just not worth doing and getting caught for.

  23. Yes I would, because if you can not be caught then how do you know it's wrong? You have to know if it is a bad thing and you don't think it is wrong then do it.

  24. Depends on the severity of it. If I could do anything and get away with it, then I would probably do some of the smaller things but never really have to get in trouble for it then yes I would probably do some smaller crimes. You have to be selfless but can never be selfish. If you had to though you could always find something to do with wwhat you gained from the situation.

  25. If i knew i could do something bad without being caught it would be something very minor but id feel really terrible about doing it with the thought that i wont get caught . it really comes down to my morals and selfishness.

  26. If I had the chance to go murder someone and NEVER get caught, I still wouldn't do it. It is morally wrong and my conscience is too big and it would haunt me forever. I think that most things would give me too much guilt. I think it is based on the person and the decisions that people make and the way that people grew up. Connecting it to Hell and the Afterlife, I think that this question would be answered differently based on whether you think you will go to Hell, no matter if you get caught or not.

  27. It is impossible to do something terribly wrong and never get caught. Even if you never get caught by the "authorities", you will forever be caught in your own downward spiral of quilt and karmic repercussions. And yet I feel like I still might do the awful thing, the unspeakable act, or...perhaps I wouldn't. I honestly don't know. Curiousity kills cats. I don't want to die on account of my own numb-skull-ness.

  28. I think we've all been there, done little things we knew we'd get away with, I know I have. To me there's things that don't even matter and things that really do. This question is sooooo wide open that it's hard to answer. On one end yes I would and I have left minor details out when asking my mom to do something because I knew she'd never know but on the other hand I wouldn't do something as drastic as taking a life just to get away with it. For me in a situation I think about how drastic it is, who's going to be affected and how bad? If it's just a little detail I'm leaving out to protect myself and my parents I'll do it but if it's a serious situation the truth always comes out and I've learned covering it up never works out well.
