Act IV Blog Question

With one act left, there are many plans, plots and ploys that haven't happened yet. Claudius hopes to kill Hamlet through Laertes. Laertes wants to avenge his father and kill hamlet. Hamlet also wants to kill Claudius because of his father's murder. From here, where will Shakespeare finish the tale?

  1. I think that Hamlet will be able to narrowly escape death and eventually avenge his father. And along with the death of Claudius, Laertes will also die by the hands of Hamlet.

  2. I believe in the end Hamlet will end up dead. Claudius and Laertes will be happy that Hamlet is dead. I think that Laertes will be the one to kill Hamlet. For some reason i dont think he will use Claudius to kill Hamlet. He might just do it on his own.

  3. It can end in many different ways but I think that Hamlet will die a hero. So maybe he will avaenge his father by killing Claudius but will die in the end. I dont see him becoming a hero and taking the throne.

  4. But he'll die an hero, just not a hero to the eyes of other people

  5. I think that Shakespeare will build up the feelings and drama to maximum capacity and then surprise us. People say that Hamlet is a tragedy for a reason. We are probably going to see the full effects of the tragedy in the next few acts. So basically I think he will end it in the manner of a tragedy. I have no doubt.

  7. There is a lot going on near the end of Hamlet, and Shakespeare still has the opportunity to flip this entire story around, but i believe lareties will fail in his attempt to kill Hamlet. I also predict that claudius and hamlet will have some sort of final battle and Hamlet will come out victorious, showing that he is a true hero.

  8. I hope hamlet will successfully kill Claudius, that every thing goes according to plan, that his father is avenged and every one is happy. Unfortunately thats not how I see Shakespeare ending the play. I think there will be many more lies and surprises, and a lot more deaths as well. Laertes will be hamlets greatest struggle now because just like Hamlet Laertes is fueled by love for his father and hate for his fathers murderer

  9. I think that this play will end with Hamlet's quest to kill Claudius being unsuccessful. Instead I think that Hamlet will become so wrapped up in what he is trying to accomplish that he will be the one that ends up dying. It seems that Hamlet will not be able to avenge his fathers death but I think that this will help him to die with a free conscience and all of his missery will be put to rest.

  10. I think that this play will end with all of the characters dieing. I think that Claudius's plan to kill Hamlet through Laertes will be unsuccessful and I also think that Hamlet will be unsuccessful with his attempt to kill Claudius. I think that some how all of the characters will get in a big fight and kill eachother.

  11. I think that it would make the most sence for everyone to get their's. The problem in this play is that everyone is trying to get everyone else and there's nothing but secrets so I think that those secrets will come out in the end and that will probably result in one or more of the character's deaths. I think that it would be good if Laertes' plan backfired on him and he got poisoned but I also think that their plan is complicated so I can see someone else drinking the poison on accident or something else going wrong as well.

  12. I think the play will end with a huge showdown between Laertes and Hamlet with Hamlet coming out on top. Hamlet will then discover that Claudius and Laertes plotted against him to try and kill him, sending him into a rage which will lead him to follow through with his plan of killing Claudius.

  13. We know that this is a tragedy, so I think that the unexpected should be expected. As hard as they may try, things are not going to go as planned. I think that Hamlet will kill Claudius, but then Laertes will kill Hamlet or maybe Hamlet will kill himself.

  14. I think that the ending will be suprising and I agree with Rachel, this book is a tragedy, so the ending will most likely end up bad. I think Hamlet will kill Claudius but somehow I feel like everyone will end up being killed.

  15. I agree with Anthony that there will be an end where we see heroism out of Hamlet. Our whole semester is on heroes, so we have to see some heroism. I also think that we could possibly see Hamlet be a hero in himself by overcoming his father's ghost and not killing Claudius. That would make things very interesting! Also, I agree with Kelli with the point that it really is a tragedy, so there is bound to be an unfortunate ending.

  16. Sadly I already know what will happen, so if you do not want to ruin the ending for yourself DON'T READ MY POST! I know that essentially all the plots will come to a head and all collide and kill just about everyone. I would like to see Hamlet turn into a griffin and eat Claudius and Laertes, and then fly off into the sunset, but I am pretty sure that won't happen.

  17. I believe that Hamlets inaction will be his downfall. I think that he will avenge his father but will also die himself soon after by Laertes. Laertes triumphant return leads me to believe this. I believe Gertrude will kill herself which will lead to 5 characters deaths and only Laertes will survive which is why this is a tragedy.
